Born from a passion for baking and helping people, Marmalade Bakeshop is a firm believer in dessert. What started as a simple gesture to bake for a friend with Celiac disease, quickly turned into a business venture.
When founder & head baker, Jessica Sapoznick, approached me she was already working with a designer but was feeling like the visuals just weren’t what she had envisioned. After going through a discovery phase to unearth all the ins and outs about Jessica and her business, I learned that her love of baking also stemmed from childhood memories of spending time in the kitchen with her mom.
Inspired by that, in combination with Jessica’s pin-up gal vibe, I created a vintage style logo and package design with an eclectic, kitschy feel. Featuring weathered type and a unique roll shape, every element of the new brand evokes a nostalgic feel and has a personal, handmade touch.
Within 3 months of launching the new identity and packaging, Jessica went from selling in no stores to being carried in FOUR, some of which even sought her out. Now I’d call that a successful project!
